Indian Recipe: Prawn Theeyal

Ingrediants:
  1. Prawns – ½ kg
  2. Coconut (cut into small pieces) – ¼ cup
  3. Grated coconut - 1 cup
  4. Fish tamarind soaked in water (Kodam puli)  - 3 to 4 flakes (as required)
  5. Ginger (cut into long pieces) - 2 cm long piece
  6. Button onion (cut into small pieces)- 2 to 3 pods
  7. Chilly powder - ½ tbsp
  8. Coriander powder - 1 tssp
  9. Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
  10. Black Pepper - 1tsp
  11. Coconut oil - 1tbsp
  12. Salt - as required
  13. Water - 2 cup
  14. Curry leaves - a few

Preparation:
  1. Cook prawns along with coconut pieces, fish tamarind, ginger, salt and ¼ cup of water till tender.
  2. Heat a pan and fry grated coconut and black pepper in low flame.
  3. When it begins to change its color to golden brown add all the powders.
  4. With out burning fry for 2 to3 minutes.
  5. Grind this into a fine paste by adding 1 cup of water.
  6. Add this to the prawns and bring to boil.
  7. In a pan heat oil and fry onions and curry leafs.
  8. Add this to the curry and serve hot.
