Indian Recipe: Prawn Theeyal
Ingrediants:- Prawns – ½ kg
- Coconut (cut into small pieces) – ¼ cup
- Grated coconut - 1 cup
- Fish tamarind soaked in water (Kodam puli) - 3 to 4 flakes (as required)
- Ginger (cut into long pieces) - 2 cm long piece
- Button onion (cut into small pieces)- 2 to 3 pods
- Chilly powder - ½ tbsp
- Coriander powder - 1 tssp
- Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
- Black Pepper - 1tsp
- Coconut oil - 1tbsp
- Salt - as required
- Water - 2 cup
- Curry leaves - a few
Preparation:
- Cook prawns along with coconut pieces, fish tamarind, ginger, salt and ¼ cup of water till tender.
- Heat a pan and fry grated coconut and black pepper in low flame.
- When it begins to change its color to golden brown add all the powders.
- With out burning fry for 2 to3 minutes.
- Grind this into a fine paste by adding 1 cup of water.
- Add this to the prawns and bring to boil.
- In a pan heat oil and fry onions and curry leafs.
- Add this to the curry and serve hot.
