Indian Recipe: Kalan (Pulissery)

Ingrediants:
  1. Raw banana(Paccha Ethakai) - 2
  2. Green chillies(slit the edge) - 8 nos
  3. Water - 1 cup
  4. Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
  5. Salt - As reqd
  6. Curd (mashed well) -1 cup
  7. Coconut(grated) - ½ of one
  8. Cumin seeds(Jeerakam) - ¼ tsp
  9. Fenugreek(Uluva) (fried and powdered)- ½ tsp
  10. Garlic – 3 nos
  11. Oil - 2 tbsp
  12. Dry red chillies(broken into two) - 2 nos
  13. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  14. Curry leaves - 1 a few

Preparation:
  1. Remove the skin of the raw banana and cut it into small cubes
  2. Cook raw banana, turmeric powder, green chillies and salt in 1 cup of water.
  3. Grind coconut, garlic and cumin seeds to a smooth paste by adding 1/2 cup of water
  4. Add this to the cooked banana and bring to boil.
  5. When it begins to boil lower the flame.
  6. Add curd and mix well.
  7. Remove from flame.
  8. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds, dry red chillies and curry leaves.
  9. Add this to the curry.
  10. Finally add the fenugreek powder.
