Indian Recipe: Jalebi
Ingrediants:-
For Jalebi:
- Urad dal (socked in water) – 2cup
- Water – to make thin batter
- Yoghurt – 1 tbsp
- Red food color – a pinch
- Oil – for frying For Syrup:
- Sugar – 2 cup
- Water – 2 ½ cup
- Cardamom powder – ¼ tsp
- Red food color – a pinch
Preparation:

For Jalebi:
- Blend urad dal, food color and water to make a smooth thin batter which has a consistency of Idely.
- Add yoghurt and leave it standing overnight.
- Heat sufficient oil to float jalebis , in a frying pan.
- Spoon mixture into a bag with a 1cm wide hole.
- Pipe the batter in double circles into oil.
- Cook in moderate heat until both sides are golden brown.
- Place into the warm sugar syrup for a few minutes.
- Drain on absorbent paper. For Syrup:
- Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to boil.
- Simmer over a low heat for 5 to 10 minutes until thick syrup is formed.
- Keep warm.
