Indian Recipe: Gooseberry Pickle

Ingrediants:
  1. Gooseberry – 1 kg
  2. Chilly powder – 1 cup
  3. Refined oil – ½  cup
  4. Mustard seeds – 3 tbs
  5. Fenugreek powder – ¼ tbsp
  6. Turmeric powder – ¼ tbsp
  7. Asafetida – ¼ tbsp
  8. Salt – as required

Preparation:
  1. Steam cook gooseberry till it is half done.
  2. Remove the water that came from gooseberry.
  3. Dry roast mustard seeds with out burning.
  4. Remove the skin of the mustard seeds by rubbing them with hand.
  5. Make a paste of chilly powder, mustard seeds, fenugreek, turmeric powder, asafetida and salt by adding a little oil.
  6. Add this paste and remaining oil to the cooked gooseberry and mix well.
