Indian Recipe: Crab Fry

Ingrediants:
  1. Crabs (cleaned and cut into 4 pieces) -5
  2. Coconut (cut into small pieces) - 1/4 cup
  3. Fish tamarind soaked in water (Kodam puli)  - 3 to 4 flakes (as required)
  4. Ginger (cut into long pieces) - 1 tbsp
  5. Button onion (crushed) - 4 to 5 pods
  6. Chilly powder - 1/2 tbsp
  7. Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  8. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  9. Pepper powder - 1/2 tbsp
  10. Coconut oil - 4 tbsp
  11. Salt - as required
  12. Water - 1/4 cup
  13. Curry leaves - a few

Preparation:
  1. Cook crabs along with coconut pieces, fish tamarind, ginger, salt and 1/4 cup of water for about 1 hr.
  2. In a pan heat oil and fry crushed onion, curry leafs and all the spicy powders with out burning.
  3. When oil begins to separate from onions add cooked crab and sauté well for 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Serve hot with rice.
