Indian Recipe: Chicken Biryani

Ingrediants:
  1. Basmati rice -2 cup
  2. Chicken (cut into small pieces) - 1 kg
  3. Onion (finely chopped)- 4 medium sized
  4. Tomato (diced) - 3 nos
  5. Vinegar(optional)– 3 tsp
  6. Ginger-garlic paste - 2 tsp
  7. Red chilly powder - 1tsp
  8. Coriander powder - 2 tsp
  9. Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
  10. Garam masala - 1 tsp
  11. Oil - 3 tbsp
  12. Coriander leaves(finely chopped)- 1 tbsp
  13. Salt - As required
Preparation:
  1. In a pan heat oil and fry onion, ginger garlic paste and salt till onion is light brown in color.
  2. Make a paste of all the spices by adding a little water.
  3. Add tomatoes and sauté for 5 more minutes.
  4. Then add the masala paste and saute till oil starts to separate.
  5. Add the chicken pieces and vinegar and cover the pan with a lid.
  6. Stirring occasionally cook in low flame till chicken is soft and tender for about 45min.
  7. When the gravy thickens remove from fire.
  8. Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves on top.
Serving:
  1. Prepare rice as described in Biryani Rice
  2. In a tray first place a layer of rice, then place a layer of chicken.
  3. Repeat this till all the chicken and rice is placed.
  4. Serve the Biryani with pappadam, lime pickle and raitha.
