Indian Recipe: Laddu
Ingrediants:- Gram flour (Besan flour) – 2 cup
- Baking powder – 1 tsp
- Sugar – 1 cup
- Ghee or refined oil – for frying
- Cardamom – 1 tsp
- Yellow color – a pinch
- Sugar candy – ½ gm
- Raisins – a few
- Cashew nuts – a few
Preparation:
- Blend gram flour, baking powder, yellow color and enough water to make a smooth batter like Dosa.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Hold a frying spoon with holes over the oil
- Place a little batter at a time into the frying spoon.
- Strike the frying spoon so that mixture falls through the spoon into the oil.
- Fry the in medium flame to a golden color.
- Blend and boil sugar and 1 cup of water to make syrup of one third consistency.
- Add cardamom and keep the syrup warm.
- Drain the boondi thoroughly and put it into the syrup.
- Fry cashew nuts and raisins in ghee and add to the boodi.
- Crush sugar candy and add this also.
- Mix all together well.
- While hot, form balls with oily hands.
- Set aside to let it turn hard.
- Store in air tight tin.
