Indian Recipe: Erissery

Ingrediants:
  1. Elephant yam(Chena) – ¼ kg
  2. Raw banana (Paccha Ethakkai) - A big one
  3. Chilly powder – ½ tbsp
  4. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  5. Water - 1 cup
  6. Salt - As reqd
  7. Coconut(grated) - 1/2 of one
  8. Cumin seeds(Jeerakam) - A pinch
  9. Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
  10. Coconut oil - 1 tbs
  11. Curry leafs - a few

Preparation:
  1. Cut elephant yam and raw banana into 1-inch cubs.
  2. Add water and cook them till they become tender
  3. Grind one-fourth amount of coconut, chilly powder, turmeric powder and cumin seeds.
  4. Add this to the vegetables and cook to boil.
  5. Remove from flame.
  6. In a pan fry remaining portion of coconut till it became golden brown
  7. Add this to the vegetable.
  8. In pan heat oil and splutter mustard seeds and also add the curry leafs.
  9. Add the curry to this and serve hot.
